Gluten Free Oat, Buckwheat and Chia Seed Crackers {Make it Myself Monday}

An easy, crunch gluten free cracker recipe using wholesome, unprocessed ingredients.


  • 1/3 c fine, fresh ground oat flour
  • 1/3 c freshly ground buckwheat flour
  • 2/3 c starch, such as corn or potato
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 Tbs ground flax meal, almond meal, or ground chia seeds
  • 3-4 Tbs olive oil
  • 3-4 Tbs water
  • more olive oil for brushing on top
  • more kosher or coarse sea salt for topping if desired


  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees
  2. Mix togther flours, starch and ground flax/almond/or chia seeds
  3. Add olive oil, one tablespoon at a time, mixing with a fork until dough begins to hold together when squeezed
  4. Add water, one tablespoon at a time, until dough sticks together
  5. Knead dough in the bowl four times or so
  6. Roll dough out on parchment paper to desired thickness
  7. Trim edges with a pizza cutter or sharp knife, if desired
  8. Brush top of dough with olive oil
  9. Sprinkle kosher or coarse sea salt on top, if desired
  10. Cut dough into squares with pizza cutter or sharp knife, or use cookie cutters (be sure to remove excess dough before baking)
  11. Put into preheated oven and bake ten to twelve minutes (check after eight if making thin crackers) or until golden brown and baked through
  12. Let cool on a wire rack
  13. Serve with desired condiments or eat plain
  14. Yield depends on thickness of crackers, anywhere from 26-40 or so
