Are you following along with the Create in Me a Clean Heart devotional? I just read Week Four, and it was a great reminder of how YHWH is merciful. How he is always just a heart-felt cry away, and that any time we need help he is there. The journal time found me reflecting again on priorities.

“I love YHWH, for he heard my voice, he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live.” Psalm 116:1-2
So many times I have cried out to YHWH for mercy, and each time he answered. Maybe not in the way I was thinking he would, or should, but he has never not been there when I needed him – even when I was like Israel and just doing my own thing. How great is his love.
This weekend, we are having a housewarming party. There are several projects I’d like to get done before then, but I have to be realistic about the time and resources I have. I just can’t get them all done, not without setting aside the things that are really important (like school with the kids) or spending money I really shouldn’t spend.
My call to you, YHWH, is for your help to keep my priorities straight and focus on what really matters most.
I can take comfort in knowing that even though things won’t be “perfect” here (at least my vision of perfect), it will not be hard to make sure the house is orderly. So my goal should be on making sure it is welcoming – not perfect. How liberating that is, to not be so stressed about every little detail being “perfect.”
