My 5 Minute Homemade Pizza Sauce is almost as fast as opening a jar of store bought sauce and contains no off-plan ingredients!
Friday nights are typically pizza nights for us. My family doesn’t always eat on plan pizza and sometimes I indulge as well.
But whether I make homemade, off-plan pizza or an on-plan version for myself, I make this super easy homemade pizza sauce.
A slowly simmered sauce is amazing, of course, and if you want to simmer it feel free! But it’s still delicious just mixing it up and spreading it right on the crust.
And seriously, it takes just 5 minutes. Or less, if your spices are organized 😉
How To Make 5 Minute Homemade Pizza Sauce.
This is almost a non-recipe. I normally just shake some seasonings in there until I like how it tastes.
But, you need measurements! So I actually measured things so I could write this post for you. Here’s how easy it is:
- Open a can of tomato sauce and pour into a small bowl.
- Measure olive oil, sweetener, spices, and salt into the bowl.
- Stir well.
Then, just spread it on your pizza crust, add your favorite toppings, and bake.

It’s not always easy to find pizza sauce that doesn’t have sugar added to it. Making your own keeps your pizza on-plan.
It’s frugal, too! An 8 ounce can of tomato sauce is well under a dollar. You likely have all the other ingredients on hand, too.
It might take a bit longer than opening a jar or can of pizza sauce from the store but honestly, not that much!
How To Fit This Easy Pizza Sauce Recipe Into Your THM Meal Plan.
As written, it’s a THM FP with just 1 gram of fat per tablespoon. You can cut back on the olive oil though if you’d like to use it in an E or FP meal and want less fat.

- 8 ounces tomato sauce
- 1 to 3 teaspoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon basil
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/8 teaspoon Super Sweet or other granulated stevia based sweetener
- 1/8 teaspoon high mineral salt
- Combine all ingredients in a small bowl.
- Use immediately, simmer for 10 minutes if you prefer, or refrigerate until ready to use.
