Is vanilla ice cream your favorite flavor? Some think it’s plain, I think it’s a blank canvas awaiting all manner of tasty toppings! Naturally, I turned to my fellow THM bloggers for their best recipes. Be sure to Pin this post so you can find your favorite THM friendly vanilla ice cream recipes and toppings!
My son loves asking me what my favorite whatever is. Most of the time I can’t really pick a favorite as it depends on my mood. But when it comes to ice cream I think I can pretty confidently say that vanilla is my favorite.
Some people think vanilla is too plain-Jane, or even boring. But when you consider all the different ways to top vanilla ice cream you easily see how versatile this humble flavor is.
Oddly, the only ice cream recipe I have on the blog (as of when this was published) is an amazing Dairy Free Chocolate Ice Cream with Peanut Butter Fudge Swirl. I just haven’t had the time to play with ice cream this year!
Thankfully, I know some of the best THM bloggers around! They so kindly shared their best ice cream and toppings recipes with me for this recipe roundup.
So, in honor of National Vanilla Ice Cream Day, I present to you the Ultimate list of the BEST THM Vanilla Ice Cream Recipes (and Toppings).
But first, let’s do an equipment and supplies check to make sure you have everything you need. Making homemade ice cream is serious business so it’s best to have the right tools 😉
NOTE: You don’t HAVE to use an ice cream maker, but they are awesome! If you’d like to know how to make ice cream without one, check out this tutorial from TJ’s Taste.
Equipment And Supplies You May Need.
Some of these recipes require an ice cream maker, some do not. If you’re needing an ice cream maker recommendation this is the one I use:
I found mine, brand new and very inexpensively on Facebook Marketplace. It even came with an extra freezer bowl, which is very handy!
Make your own single serving ice creams for the week to help with portion control with these handy mini ice cream freezer containers, too!
Ice cream scoops are super handy for scooping out ice cream. Often, homemade ice creams get very hard in the freezer. While it’s a pain it’s because we’re not adding a bunch of unpronounceable things to our ice cream 😉
Using vegetable glycerine is always optional. It can help keep it a bit more scoopable. Some vegetable glycerines contain a high amount of carbs so always check the labels. This is the one recommended by Briana Thomas. She knows a thing or two about making THM ice cream so I trust her recommendation. You’ll find several of her recipes in the list below.
